I work with both porcelain and stoneware. Porcelain for its whiteness and translucency and stoneware for its strength and forgiveness; I also make porcelain paper clay from a mush of porcelain and paper. Mainly, I use the paper clay to paint on, form into cylinders and sometimes, to make other work.

Whenever possible, materials for pots and glazes are sourced locally and made completely from scratch using, for example, clays bought from a St Agnes quarry and even ingredients collected when I am out walking. All pieces are either thrown on the wheel or hand-built before being twice-fired in an electric kiln, first to 1040°C and then glazed to 1240°C. Tableware is dishwasher safe.
